Just like technology is always evolving, so has been the state of fashion blogging. Now-a-days, you must stay current with technology if you are doing anything in the creative arts.
One of the things I have noticed is how social media is evolving to more of creating a story of your life or your product to build a brand. It’s not just pictures anymore. People desire more from you (especially if you are popular) to keep their attention. They want to learn more about you, your product, your home life, your everything. Social media presence is super important; however, the key is to be personable without getting too personal.
I found the Unfold App recently to create this set of pictures (to create a mini picture book story) and currently testing out video editor apps for my instagram to edit on my phone. I am looking for an app that is fairly user friendly because sometimes easy to use video editor apps are few and far between. One must go through a full tutorial just to learn some of the simplest features. O_0
Wish me luck on my quest.

“Create your own visual style…….let it be unique for yourself yet identifiable to others.”
I have been fashion blogging all these years yet I was “today years old” when I realized that as a fashion blogger your style must be consistent. What I mean is you can’t be all over the place when creating your looks………..you can’t be vintage one day, rockstar the next and preppy the day after that.
You must create a niche for yourself to make yourself marketable. Although I am a free spirit, I am beginning to see what works and what may not be beneficial if you are trying to build your brand.
I guess you can say I am learning the rules or the “tricks of the trade” day by day.
Happy Friday!!!! It’s amazing the amount of creativity God will pour into you the day you start searching for it.
One of my goals this year is to build my Instagram following and I am learning daily. I mean we all know about social media and I’m sure if you are a fashion blogger, you have watched a few videos on building your brand (or even taken a Master Class or two or three or four).
In my research, I have found that what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another.
The one thing that I know that proves true to any of these social media tutorials is that you must be consistent and create great content………even when no one is watching.
“Keep creating until you make it
“……………..I heard that quote on a commercial and thought “Huh, so true”.
Sidebar: My oldest had a day off and him and I (along with my younger boys) hopped in the car for a photo shoot. As a way to say “Thank you” for supporting their Mom’s dreams, we usually grab a bite to eat afterward.
While I don’t mind taking my own photos, I must admit my son does a very good job. Seriously, he is the calmest person you will ever know and often offers great advice on images that work and what are not the best. It’s hard to believe he will be 21 years old in November. 🙂
Ah 1,2, ah 1,2……….Ah, 1, 2, ah 1,2………….getting my thoughts together like a rapper getting ready to battle rap. 🙂
I must admit, this year’s “30 days of Fashion” is a little bit more successful than the previous years. Oh, and I am a little excited because this weekend, I plan to create my own lookbook of styles that I have put together in my head.
In my mind, I have a full production going on with backdrops, complete outfit ensembles, the whole nine yards. I just hope it comes out as cool as the images I have in my head. Stay tuned.
“If you can imagine it, you can create it…………..”.
One of my bucket list items is to attend an event at NYFW. I mean, if you are a fashion blogger, that’s the ultimate dream, right?…….. Besides the ability to do blogging full-time.
In the next few days, I plan to create “What I would wear to fashion week” #OOTD. Now this denim dress is not one of the looks but it is one of my favorite dresses in my closet for several reasons. It’s one of a kind and totally my personal style.
The backstory on this dress is that it used to be a jumpsuit that I bought at a thrift store. I saw it and thought “Hmmm, I am going to ask an associate of mines (who upcycles a lot of my pants for me) to work her magic” and “Poof!!!”, the birth of my denim maxi dress.
Every year, I “try” the “Thirty Days of Fashion” challenge. I emphasize “try” because I would do the challenge and fail because I never really had a plan.
I am learning fashion blogging is more than just taking photos and creating outfit of the days, you actually have to plan your posts. #whoknew? Seriously, that may sound logical and you may be thinking “Well, Duh Michal!!!” but I am such a “free-spirit” that I never really took the time to plan out my hobby, my passion.
This year, I decided to take a totally different approach and provide a guide for myself of what outfits I would post each day (and now that I know a little bit about how to take my own photos), this “Thirty Days of Fashion” seems a little bit more promising.
Anyway, if you follow me on Instagram (@thebohemiancosmo), you can see some of my recent posts. I will be posting some of my favorites on this blog site shortly.
