Distressed Denim

Lights, Camera, and Action!!!!!!!!
One thing I am learning about taking your own photos is you must be comfortable with you and this project and as my boyfriend told me yesterday “Own it!!”.
Basically, don’t be afraid of people staring at you. I almost got a little nervous when a young boy and his Mom went past me on a bike and then I thought “Michal, just zone everyone out. Own it”.
“If you accept it, the world around you MUST follow suit”.

Coordinating Stripes

One thing I have learned about blogging is you have to stay consistent, no matter what. That is the only way to build your audience and your brand and sometimes in life there are hurdles to overcome………….(it happens, just roll with it).
Here recently, I have been trying to teach myself how to be my own photographer. The inside story is my photographer, who is my oldest child, works really long and hard hours as a manager in the foodservice industry. I am so proud of him for his work ethic…………(proud Mom moment, let me take a moment. #veklempt Talk amongst yourselves)
Okay, I’m back. The result is I need to find a photographer………….enter myself in the training wheels phase of the world of photography.
I took these photos over the weekend and for the next month, I will try to commit to learning how to master taking selfies. Lift me up in your prayers, won’t you? 🙂

The Lady In Red

The “E True Personal Blog Story!” behind #OOTD posts are they sometimes have to happen quick. Sometimes, you are about to leave with kids in the car and you’re all like “Hurry up and take this picture so I can post it”. #noliestold

The reason I wanted to post this jumpsuit is that I have been waiting for a few months for this Free People Color My World jumpsuit to go on sale. I saw it originally in the Free People store but when I checked online and it was nearly 50% off at Macy’s, well, I just had to have it. I consider these types of situations as blessings. #thankful

Bright & Festive Lookbook

I went to my cousin’s wedding this past weekend which was beautiful. I almost felt a watery substance trying to form in my eyes when they were saying their vowels. Love is so special to me. ❤
Anyway, my off the shoulder dress that I wore was not really hard to find as I shop at Vici Collection all the time. This store has becomes my favorite store. Their selection of bohemian chic-date-night-brunch-with-my-girlfriends apparel is par excellent. It seems every week now I seem to find something else I add to my wishlist.

Chocolate Brown

This year is going by so quickly and one thing I know for sure is I am growing with the times. I am not the type of person who says “Shh, don’t tell people my age.” I am proud to be 42 years old. The growth and experiences that God has allowed me to conquer, I don’t take that for granted.
Anyway, the first dress I am wearing is one of my favorite vintage dresses. I have had it for years and it has a few tears here and there that I had to mend but I love it because it’s so carefree. I am a maximalist and it’s hard for me to part with my maxi dresses.
The 2nd look is featuring a pleather skirt I purchased for GoJane.com last year. I love that store.

Scarves & Stripes

Happy Friday!!!! I am about to be so transparent. My blog dues came up for renewal recently and I thought “Hmmm, I should probably just let this go.”
I have been blogging for many years as a hobby with minimal success, if any……but a still, small voice says to me “Keep Going”. I talk to God alot and so I “Keep Going”. Not sure if this blog is even helping someone but I hope so. Fashion Blogging is not just a show and tell but to inspire.
Anyway, the above sounds a little bit like rambling so I am going to go on to what I am wearing in the pictures. I have had these striped pants for a couple of years and thought about a different way to wear them…………enter a scarf from my closet that I tucked into a strapless bra and “Voila!!” my #ootd

Weekend Style: Cowgirl Chic

This past Thursday, my family and I went to see “Avengers” Infinity War and if you are a superhero geek like my family is, the move is a MUST see. I was so stressed the last half hour of the movie that I sat in my seat with my hands clasped closely to my face…………(in my mind, I am an imaginary chain smoker so my imaginary ciggy’s were everywhere once the movie ended). It was that stressful.
The car ride home required us to listen to something soothing and peaceful like jazz. My boys don’t even like jazz music yet they were just fine after seeing this movie……….. 🙂

Hat – Target (they have the best selection of straw hats)
Denim shirt – Plato’s Closet
Denim jeans – Vintage
Shoes – Macy’s

Weekend Lookbook

Since I don’t really have time during the week to take photos (okay, let me just keep it real, I just don’t feel like it. The grind of work, motherhood and just simply adulting has my eyeballs looking like Droopy at 5:30 pm), I decided to create weekend lookbooks.
I feel a lot more refreshed and enjoy taking photos of some of the apparel I like to wear on the weekends, albeit hanging with my 3 sons, date night or going to church.

The Pixie Cut

For the past few months, I have been really considering cutting my hair. Okay, this is not the first time taking short hair under consideration as I have had short hair several times before, but after a couple of months, I was always back to adding extensions. Well, I had an idea this time. What if I bought a wig to give the illusion of short hair?………enter the Outre Pixie cut wig (purchase here).
Let me just say I love this wig, but straight out the package it looks like a hair skull cap. My baby boy even said “Mommy, that looks like a hair hat.” O_0 (no lies were told).
In the wig’s defense, once you start fingercombing and manipulating it, the wig actually looks cute. There was only one complaint. Apparently, I have a big head. By the time I took my “hair hat” off my head????? Ewwww, chile, it was throbbing.
