Weekend Style: Cowgirl Chic

This past Thursday, my family and I went to see “Avengers” Infinity War and if you are a superhero geek like my family is, the move is a MUST see. I was so stressed the last half hour of the movie that I sat in my seat with my hands clasped closely to my face…………(in my mind, I am an imaginary chain smoker so my imaginary ciggy’s were everywhere once the movie ended). It was that stressful.
The car ride home required us to listen to something soothing and peaceful like jazz. My boys don’t even like jazz music yet they were just fine after seeing this movie……….. 🙂

Hat – Target (they have the best selection of straw hats)
Denim shirt – Plato’s Closet
Denim jeans – Vintage
Shoes – Macy’s

Weekend Lookbook

Since I don’t really have time during the week to take photos (okay, let me just keep it real, I just don’t feel like it. The grind of work, motherhood and just simply adulting has my eyeballs looking like Droopy at 5:30 pm), I decided to create weekend lookbooks.
I feel a lot more refreshed and enjoy taking photos of some of the apparel I like to wear on the weekends, albeit hanging with my 3 sons, date night or going to church.

Giambattista Valli Pre-Fall 2018

Today, as I was looking for inspirational bohemian festival looks, I ran across this designer collection.  I love viewing collections for the upcoming season because you can generally get a feel for what will be trending. The Giambattista Valli Pre-Fall 2018 collection appears to be an extension of what is already trending, 70’s inspired looks.
I am a sucker for the maxi dresses. So comfortable and carefree. I guess you can call me a maximalist. 🙂

The Pixie Cut

For the past few months, I have been really considering cutting my hair. Okay, this is not the first time taking short hair under consideration as I have had short hair several times before, but after a couple of months, I was always back to adding extensions. Well, I had an idea this time. What if I bought a wig to give the illusion of short hair?………enter the Outre Pixie cut wig (purchase here).
Let me just say I love this wig, but straight out the package it looks like a hair skull cap. My baby boy even said “Mommy, that looks like a hair hat.” O_0 (no lies were told).
In the wig’s defense, once you start fingercombing and manipulating it, the wig actually looks cute. There was only one complaint. Apparently, I have a big head. By the time I took my “hair hat” off my head????? Ewwww, chile, it was throbbing.

The Model – Shudu

The older I get, the more I love seeing images of beautiful, rich chocolate women because growing up dark skin was not the beauty standard. In fact, it was shamed especially in black communities.
Nowadays, ethnic models are being represented more and more as a beauty norm and for melanin magnificent women like myself, we salute.
For instance, this model…………uh, wait no…….take a closer look, the model is actually computer generated by photographer Cameron-James Wilson.
Shudu has been taken social media platforms such as Instagram by storm because of her beautiful features and lifelike appearance. All I can say is when I read an article about the digital beauty, she gained a new follower.
